Note From David

Hello ,

Time flies. 4 weeks ago we announced the challenge of increasing our company turnover by 25% in 3 months, one month has gone, in the twinkling of an eye.

So far we have implemented 4 marketing strategies. Thanks to our proactive marketing effort, we're picking up new customers everyday, of course not everything is shiny and glorious, let me share...

2 out of the 4 strategies we used, are the distribution of 2 different offers for new prospects, using full colour printed flyers. By the way I'm sharing the tips & tricks on "How To Create High Impact Flyers That Will Stand Out From The Rest" as this week's feature article.

The whole idea of having 2 different offers(one for signage and another for printing) running at the same time, is to split test the offers and see which one works best.

Then later I got "smarter", as we only have 3 months to test and measure our offers, instead of sending these 2 separate offers to 2 different groups of prospects, why not send both offers to every prospect, the most responded offer should be the winner! Plus, people now have 2 offers to choose from, so my overall response rate should be much greater.

To my surprise, our response rate was not hitting the roof. I was puzzled, till I went to a prospect's office to take his order, and realized we might have a problem:

He tried to find the piece of our flyer, with the offer he wanted, but he had difficulty finding it... he has 4 pieces of printed material from us: a printed desktop calendar, one printed flyer with special offer on printing and another on signage, plus a sign-in form, giving people limited access to our e-zine. We overwhelmed our prospects!

I showed our marketing pack to a few other clients and they felt the same way, they said if they received so much information in one hit, they would probably put it aside to read later.

But guess what, such a "second viewing of our materials" never happens, because people get busy and distracted, and they tend to forget about them completely. This is like me throwing one ball to you, you have a very good chance of catching it. If I throw several balls, there is a good chance you'll catch none!

Well, if any of you have other thoughts about this story, please send me your comments, I'll be mostly appreciative.

One last key point I'd like to share, when running a marketing campaign - test, test, test! We need to keep testing different variations. This is a constant refining process, but the rewards will make all the effort worthwhile

Dedicated to your business success and profits

How To Create High Impact Flyers That
Will Stand Out From The Rest

Because flyer printing is so handy, economical and effective, flyers are one of the best, most affordable marketing tools.

A flyer is your silent salesperson that represents you to your customers and readers, so make sure your flyer looks professional. Always print enough to ensure your marketing message will reach as many customers as possible: flyers can be posted in shops or public places, handed out personally, letterbox distributed, mailed out to prospects, inserted into your company's presentation folder, given out at trade shows, used as sales reps' selling aids, or even sent out with invoices, statements or payments.......

Flyers normally come in four standard sizes, A4 size(297 x 210mm), A5 size(148.5 x 210mm) , A6 size(148.5 x 105mm) or DL size (99 x 210mm) , they can be printed on one or both sides. A very popular size is A4, either left flat, folded to DL to fit standard envelopes or folded in half, providing 4 pages of A5. Try to stick to standard sizes to minimize paper wastage.

Flyers can be printed in a wide variety of colours ranging from one colour printing to premium full colour finish. For full colour flyers, a heavier weight, high gloss coated stock is chosen to achieve a more vibrant colour in order to create a greater impact.

Want to create high impact flyers that will catch people's attention and stand out from the rest? Give great consideration to the following points:

Do proper research
Thoroughly research your product and market, you can not design a flyer effectively without doing your research

Define your ideal customers or readers
Every product with a market has a perfect customer. Who is your ideal customer? If you don't know any of this information, get on the phone and ask your prospects and customers.

Define the purpose of your flyer
This will help you decide what message you want to communicate, and the feel and tone to be used in your flyer to make it work for you.

Get your message out loud and clear
When your market is crowded with competitors, how do you get your message to stand out amongst all the 'noise' out there? What's the uniqueness of your business over your competitors?

Have a powerful, benefit filled headline
The headline accounts for up to 80% of the success of any marketing message. It's the single most important component to attract the prospect's attention. If you don't have a good headline, ring us on 02 9749 1966 for help.

Provide enough information, with the right format
Give enough facts, tell prospects everything they need to know. Don't be afraid of long copy but the design needs to provide lots of white space. Lots of white space gives the eye the ability to jump into the text and scan through the text very easily, which will keep people involved in your message. Determine the size of your project carefully to be sure your flyer doesn't look too busy.

A good picture is worth a thousand words
All photos and graphics must contribute to your marketing message. Select pictures that can describe your business better than words. Also make sure you always caption photographs to increase the impact of your message.

Strategies to increase customer response
Guarantee customer satisfaction, erase all risk from the customers; Make it simple for your customers to deal with you; Offer incentives, create an irresistible offer; Give specific instructions on what action you want the reader to take. All these strategies will increase your chances of having a successful marketing campaign with your printed flyers.

Design your flyer professionally
Flyer design takes skill and creativity to make a flyer outshine the rest of the competition, so you may want to look at our graphic design section to learn some common design tips, or to use your printer'ss designer to create a first-class piece.

Print enough flyers
If you're using your flyers for letterbox drop, expect that most people will throw away your printed piece. Print as many as you can to cover more post codes because in the end it is a numbers game, but test , test, test your marketing message before committing to a big quantity. Using full colour printing will increase the impact of your flyers thus increasing your chances of getting your message read.

Deal with a responsible printer
Make sure you place your order with a knowledgeable and experienced commercial printer who can offer compelling graphic design, optimum printing quality, fast printing turnaround and competitive prices.
